Our refurbishment products are excellent quality and value, but we will only recommend them to you if we believe they represent a good long term investment. If your doors are beyond repair we will always recommend partial or full replacement.
Our draught sealing and overhaul service is designed to bring new life to windows and doors and will dramatically improve performance at a fraction of the cost of replacement. We will bring your old windows and doors into the 21st century, whilst retaining the aesthetic character and charm of your home.

Why Choose Us?
Replacing a period style door is often a major decision for clients. This is often the item which sets off a property from any other. With years of knowledge, we can help with the design and choice of door to make the process as smooth as possible.
The Timber We Use
We consider a number of key factors when deciding what timber to use for our doors.
- Suitability – is the project internal or external
- Durability – Durability is an essential quality
- Straightness of the grain – Straight grained timbers are more stable
- Texture (fine or coarse) – The finer the grain the easier to finish to a high standard
- Sustainability – M &R Joinery Services only use sustainable timbers
- Cost – Purchasing timber on the basis of cost is almost always a false economy
With the points above firmly in mind, we make our doors and windows from Sapele, European Oak, Unsorted Reds & Accoya™ . These timbers are reasonably forgiving and will last a lifetime and beyond if the relevant maintenance cycles are adhered to. We believe that if you decide to replace your doors you should only have to do it once.
The quality of the timber we use and our joinery construction methods are of paramount importance to the lifespan of your windows and doors. We use the traditional mortice and tenon construction techniques, identical to those that were used throughout the Georgian and Victorian periods.
New timber doors need to be re-painted or even re-glazed over the years, but if the timber or joinery construction fails, expensive replacement is likely. It is very important to use good quality timber.

Our wide range of suppliers enables us to cater for a large range of applications and styles, such as patterned, obscure, safety and laminated glass.
At M&R Joinery Services we ensure that our new timber doors play their part in minimising energy consumption. In an average house around 10% of heat is lost through doors. In a period property, the heat loss from old and ill-fitting doors will often be much worse around 20%.
